Bob Jones High School Band
Stewart Thorson, Assistant Director
Mr. Thorson is new to Bob Jones High School this year, but he
comes highly-recommended and with wonderful experience. He's a 1999 graduate of the
University of Alabama Tuscaloosa where he was the marching instructor for Bama's Million Dollar Band.
When Mr. Thorson arrived at Bob Jones this summer, he didn't waste any time. In three weeks he'd helped Mr. Thornton create the music and drill for the halftime competition marching show. He then proceeded to dive right into Marching Band Camp, enduring the heat and strain to help the band get a great start on this year's routine.
Mr. Thorson has fit into Bob Jones life easily, with a personality that compliments the band and Mr. Thornton's. Every once in a while he gets taken aback by the antics and pranks the kids dream up, but he's been a great sport during his rookie year.
It's a combination that works well. When Mr. Thorson writes to his college buddies, he can tell them that his first year resulted in straight superior ratings at all competitions, standing ovations at halftime performances and respect and friendship from his students.
