THE BIG FLAG PROJECT
It started at band camp: The University of Alabama lent us a gigantic 45-YARD wide American flag to use in our halftime show. Mr. Thornton and Thorson thought it would be a help if "a few band daddies" could help us pull it off. Nobody had a clue as to how much effort it would take to make this project a reality! Our band daddies were joined by some band moms, band members, middle school band students and recently-graduated band members. Through more dedication and determination than you can imagine, they devised a plan to make that enormous flag wave during our performance.
The results? Superior judging scores and a crowd reaction that filled the stands. Our marching performers were filled with pride and grattitude at the efforts made on their behalf, and the directors say that without a doubt, this would have never been possible without the hard work of many, many band supporters.
