State Concert Competiton:
Tuscaloosa, AL, March 24, 1999
Continuing a long streak of proud accomplishments, the Bob Jones Symphonic Band traveled to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama Bandmasters State Competition. Bands were graded in two areas: prepared performances and sight reading, where they were allowed only a few minutes to review a totally new piece. Ours was the last band to perform, and we'd seen a trend of many bands before us: great scores on the prepared pieces, but devastating scores for the sight reading.
Everyone took a deep breath and plunged in. Read on for the results. (Hint: it
was a ONEderful experience!)
